University of Toledo North Engineering

The Spieker Company has done countless projects over the years at The University of Toledo and our latest is nothing short of spectacular! The College of Engineering hosted the ribbon cutting ceremony in December of 2023 to celebrate the completion of the extensive renovations to the North Engineering Building. Kicking off back in 2019, this three phased project, led by Project Manager Matt Berg & Superintendent Mark Schlegl, included an exterior shell rebuild as well as renovations to over 64,000 sf of space throughout the building. These renovations added 15 classrooms, 12 laboratories, a makers space and collaborative spaces for the students to gather and learn. There is also a dedicated space for the Formula SAE Race Team, which is a student organization that designs, builds and competes in national competitions with a Formula One style racecar. The College of Engineering building was originally used for research and development by Owens-Illinois as a pilot production facility, UT utilized the high bay space and retrofitted a second floor that enabled the College of Engineering to maximize the available space.
