PROJECT DETAILS
The Spieker Company completed the replacement of nearly two miles of boardwalk at Maumee Bay State Park, delivering a durable, modern infrastructure while preserving the boardwalk’s original alignment through the wetlands. The project included the demolition of the existing structure and construction of new piers, structural framing, decking, and railings designed for long-term performance.
Project enhancements included improved ADA accessibility, upgraded visitor safety features, a redesigned entrance to the Nature Center, multiple shaded rest areas, interpretive signage, and environmentally responsible construction practices to protect the area’s sensitive cultural and ecological resources.
This successful project revitalizes one of Northwest Ohio’s premier outdoor destinations, creating a safer, more accessible, and enjoyable experience for visitors while ensuring the boardwalk will serve the community for years to come.
