Maumee High School & The Panther Pride Foundation funded the overhaul of the Richard Kazmaier Stadium that was initially built in 1961. The stadium hadn’t had many upgrades over the years other than some ADA accessibility and a few outbuildings. The alumni decided to give back to MHS and created the Panther Pride Foundation in 2015 which creates revenue for these types of projects that help to better Maumee High School. The Spieker Company was the General Contractor for this design build project. The scope of work for this project was completed in phases. Phase one included installing a new turf field, renovations to ticket booths, renovations to The Panther Den and concessions stands as well as a connected new two-story building. The Panthers locker room & team room were also renovated during phase one along with upgrades to the existing public bathroom, a new ADA public bathroom and additional storage and custodial space.
Phase two created a driveway with additional parking spaces and a new ticket booth with a very aesthetically lighted arched entry. The visitors side of the stadium was also renovated during this phase, which included a new visitor locker room & team room, new public restrooms, a new official’s locker room and a new concession stand.
The stadium welcomes more than 10,000 people for events not just for Maumee High School but also Gateway Middle School, Maumee Youth football as well as The Catholic Youth Organization.
The renovated stadium is meant to be a gathering point for all Maumee residents to rally around as a focal point and face of the community.
